I woke up this morning with a renewed sense of inspiration and a need for fun, joy and playtime. The sun was not shining and the heavy, gray cloud cover whispered that rain was on the way, yet I still felt a childlike stirring within me sparked by the singing birds outside my bedroom windows; their sweet song broke through the fogginess of my slumber and I remembered it was May. A lucid dreamlike memory came floating in my half awake brain of a time that I was about ten years old, waking up on a Saturday morning in May, the song birds tune, the sweet smell of fresh cut grass and a cotton candy perfume of the Mimosa tree outside my window, springing from my bed so that I could go outside and play with my friends. Do you remember the days that play was the most important item on your to-do list? When every day was filled with possibilities, magic and fun!
Yes we are grown now and have days filled with responsibilities; the home, the family, the job and sleep; the lists are endless. So where do we find time to play? When do we make and take the time to have fun? Why, at this point in our lives, is play and fun so important. I will let you in on a little secret…. play and fun helps make magic in our lives. It allows the Universal Laws to work in our favor because our blocking walls, and energy are relaxed and taken down. So, are you wanting more money, a new job, a new love, a new car or a new house? Then you have to go play and have fun. Yes, that is what you have to do after you have set your intentions and made your wishes.
Too often we are so serious about everything that life is offering us. Take the time to change it up. Here are some suggestions. I always go back to gratitude, that is my first step in changing my energy and attitude and I feel it is time to begin writing in a Gratitude Journal. Yes, I “think” about what I am grateful for every day, but writing it down, in a journal, makes it ‘real’ and it is time I recommit to this practice so that I can manifest a true change and quicker. Try this and commit to at least 30 days of journaling your blessings. While journaling, you can write down your intentions and wishes for what you want to bring into your life. The Sky is the limit on this. Next, find at least 10 minutes in every day that you do something fun, for yourself or with your loved ones. This could be a walk around the block, cooking a fun meal together, a drive around the neighborhood to look for something beautiful, yoga, jumping jacks, cards, listen to music at full blast, stop and smell a flower; just do something that takes your attention away from your daily obligations and responsibilities – 10 minutes is easy to do. If you can, take a day to go to your favorite beach, lake, forest; get out in nature – it helps reset our soul and balance out our bodies. While you are relaxing, playing or doing something fun, you will not focus on your wishes, what is missing in your life or how horrible your boss is; just place your focus on making your heart happy. Commit to this every day – it is only 10 minutes!
I do understand that this may be a struggle to begin; those that may be grieving or suffering from depression or anxiety may have a difficult time just getting started. Small, baby steps, one try a day, one try at a time. Don’t give up. I pulled myself up from a dark night of my soul many times just by finding one thing I could be grateful for. Eventually (usually after 30 days) I was able to find more gratitude, more joy in my days and I was able to turn myself around just through gratitude. This will cause a profound shift in your energy and perception and over time you will see many blessings come your way!
