Can you feel it? The energy in the air shifting to a new and more vibrant energy? We are coming off the Solstices and the changing of the Seasons around the world. Although we may be charged with energy, I am actually going to advise that we slow down. That does not mean I am recommending laziness, but a slowing down so that we can savor the Season. A shifting of our personal energy so that we can take notice of everything that is going on around us by being present and engaged in the moment.
I love the word SAVOR- to enjoy or appreciate something pleasant, completely, especially by dwelling upon it. To relish and enjoy to the fullest is what we should be doing this Season and finding anything to SAVOR as opposed to dwelling on the drama and the negative. Which energy would you prefer to dwell in?
The Planets are shifting and Jupiter can be seen as the brightest star in the sky at this time. We are entering a Neptune Retrograde and preparing for Mercury Retrograde on top of two upcoming Eclipses; Solar on July 2nd and Lunar on July 16th. There will be a major opposition between the planets and the world. Energies are shifting from strict hierarchical rule of male dominated governments, finances, institutions, and businesses and shifting to a matriarchal and softer motherly rule. As I have said late last year, we are shifting to find more meaning and value in life, making our families and friends top of the list versus being a slave to the wage and being dominated by our careers. That is not to say that we are all going to stop working and joining a commune, but we are shifting the value of what is TRULY important in our lives. I know you having a longing, a calling; you feel it deep within your core and I feel that we all know what should be most important, the key is to act on these feelings instead of thinking about them.
Now that the Sun has moved into Watery Cancer, we should focus on the home, the family, our roots and our friends. Spending more time in all of the above. I am not saying that we should hermit away in our crabby shells, no, come out and get out of those shells (the mind) and get out and play and live from the heart.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon and the emotions. The Moon controls the tides that ebb and flow. Cancer is Maternal, it is the homemaker, the nest maker, the caregiver. This could be a great time to entertain in your home. Revamp and freshen the home environment. Be softer and more gentle to yourself and to others. Most of all, get out of your head and into your heart. Allow your heart to rule and stop over thinking. We are out of Gemini and so we do not have to or want to over think anything for the rest of this Season.
Everyone has a bad day, bad month, bad year; some even could say they have a bad life. However true this may be, especially if on a bad luck streak or being surrounded by other people with a low vibration that seem to inflict their nastiness unto those around them (some people strive to make others miserable) it is our own personal responsibility for our own feeling, actions, behavior and energy. It is our job to keep our vibrations high despite anything outside of yourself. We are only responsible for our inner vibration. Nothing that anyone says or does is the reason for the way we feel; we are completely responsible for our own feelings…. that does not mean that shitty people don’t do shitty things, but we still are in control over how we react and emote from every situation. And by all means, this does not mean that we are going to be 100% positive 100% of the time, but it is still our job to get out of any lower vibration as quickly as possible, as often as possible. And, it is o.k. to grieve, heal and recuperate from serious traumas; this does NOT include daily dramas and that is what most of us dwell on; daily dramas that truly mean nothing. Only our minds give weight and leverage to the daily dramas; we over think the dramas and keep the story rolling by rehashing the steps and events that led up to any “perceived” wrong doing, we are the ones that keep these stories alive and playing on repeat; like a broken record. It has got to stop for optimal joy.
My tried and true ways that I shift my energy out of a bad mood:
- Stop Drop and Roll – I was taught in school, if I was ever on fire, I should Stop, Drop and Roll. When we are caught up in a hurt or a drama, it is like we are on fire. You do not want to run around like a crazy person as this will only increase the flames, so Stop, Drop and Roll. I stop myself in my tracks and I take a big deep breath. I may take several breaths. Stopping when we acknowledge that our feelings are getting out of control. Just stop and breathe.
- Take as many deep breaths as necessary.
- Go for a walk. While walking focus on finding something beautiful.
- Count your blessings – Stop and try to think of at least one thing that you are truly and deeply grateful for. The more blessings you can count, in these moments, will shift your energy from what you are hating to those things you love and value.
- Play upbeat music. Blast it in your car or your home. Playing your favorite beats during these times shifts your energy immediately.
- Laughter is the best medicine – watch a video on YouTube of your favorite comedian so that you can get laughing. If you don’t have a favorite comedian, start looking for some comic material now that you can have on hand for when you need it.
- Do something nice for someone. Small kindnesses towards others is very rewarding, like holding a door, or smiling when you pass another; small kindnesses will be received back.
- Play with an animal or pet. Yours, a friend’s or a neighbor’s will work wonders for you. Pets provide unconditional love and remind us that not everything in the world is horrible.
- Cry- It is o.k. to cry; as a matter of fact, crying is a wonderful way to release that built up energy, it is cathartic, and crying prevents future health issues from bottling up feelings.
- Get away- go for a drive, a day trip, take a mental health day so you can pull yourself together. I found that getting away removes my focus and shifts it to another direction.
- Do mundane tasks and do them well- Doing repetitive household chores and yard work will distract you long enough to shift your energy. Focus on what you are doing, while you are completing each task. Wise Masters say “Chop Wood and Carry Water” when in doubt as it clears the mind.
Hopefully, the above tips will help someone in some small way. Conversely, things not to do include revenge, gossiping or obsessing over the situation, masking feelings with substances such as drugs and alcohol, harming one’s self or another. Excuses and blaming others are so last Century; If you feel like these are or will be your go to tactic or if you are feeling overwhelmed, please seek professional help as soon as possible.
