This week brings us a New Moon in Earthy Taurus; the “I have” energy, coming in at 14 degrees, so we better align our thoughts, words and minds to what will be manifested. This is our Super Manifestation Moon; the Moon where goals and heart’s desire intentions are set for the year to come.
Below is an excerpt from a former blog in which I mention the Beltane Dew that the maiden fair washes her face with on the morning of May
Day to ensure youth and beauty for the year to come. Llewellen says:
The morning dew was collected during the month of May for health and beauty. It was considered especially potent if gathered on a May morning, but it was also collected throughout the month and into June. The dew was either brushed off the grass into a dish, or it was collected with a clean linen cloth that was then wrung into a vessel. Sometimes it was placed in a glass bottle and set out in the sunshine for an entire day. Daring young women rolled naked in the dew for beauty. Dew was not to be wiped off but let dry in the air. Here is a traditional charm for collecting May dew, which alludes to its mysterious and otherworldly qualities:
I wash my face in water
That has neither rained nor run,
And I dry it on a towel
That was never woven or spun.
May 1st ushers in the the celebration of Beltane or more commonly known as May Day. It is the celebration of the beginning of Summer, the warmer months; that of prosperity and abundance. The seeds you plant today will bring the crops that we harvest come Autumn; literally and figuratively.
A dear Scottish friend told me once of the old Celtic rituals; upon waking, go outside and grab up the morning dew from the grass and wash your face with it to awaken and refresh yourself. This is said to be a magic fountain of youth on May 1st. I am 84 and you would never know it –just kidding! Also, plant herbs and light a bonfire outside. The planting honors the Earth and the bonfire encircles you and your abode with protection for the year!
No wonder the cards that I keep picking all keep pointing to the Earth as Beltane also celebrates the Green Man showing up in our gardens to spread his wealth.
The theme through the third week of May is that of manifesting, loving the self, enjoying everything of the senses and connecting with the Earth. It is a great time for everyone to practice these habits as they will carry with us long into the remainder of the year. It is beneficial to embrace these qualities; connection to the Earth grounds us and allows us to stabilize our aura which protects us from our fears and allows us to feel safe and strong. Loving the self not only nurtures us like no other can, but it also gives ourselves the respect first and foremost that radiates out to everyone we encounter, therefore demanding the same love and respect from all those around us. By enjoying and relishing in the senses we truly live life to the fullest; with vim and vigor inviting happiness, joy and love into our lives in abundance. Putting yourself first is not selfish, but self-full; when we Fill ourselves up first (when we become Full) we have so much more to give back to those we love; we share with happiness and joy instead of the bitterness of obligation.
