The Full Harvest Moon and Eclipse Season begins

By Kimberly McGrath Sep 13

The Full Harvest Moon in Pisces along with the opening to Eclipse Season, ushers in the Autumnal Equinox and Mabon. Get your juicy details here

The Full Harvest Moon occurring September 17-18, 2024, which is the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox and Mabon, holds a special place in many traditions, and when it falls in Pisces, its mystical properties take on unique qualities.  This Full Moon in Pisces at 25° 40’  10:35 pm ET is coupled with a Partial Lunar Eclipse on the North Node, “bringing a “power surge” into the sign, and natal house they occur in, or regarding the specific affairs and significations governed by the natal (or transit) planet(s) they conjunct. This influence can be either positive or negative, strong or weak, depending on many other factors (per the introductory tips). Effects can last a year or more (especially if the eclipse is total), and are triggered when various transits line up over this degree by hard aspect or quincunx.

However, the Lunar North Node eclipse is bringing to fullness the affairs of the Sun at the opposite Nodal polarity (South). The Sun holds the string of the yoyo, so to speak. This is why I call Sol “the Eclipse Master” when determining effects of Lunar eclipses.

Be alert for a possible “power surge” or strong influx into the affairs of the sign and house that the Lunar eclipse occurs in; or over the planet the Lunar eclipse is conjunct. There may be a possible “power outage” or release in the opposite sign, house, or over any planet the Lunar eclipse opposes – where both the Sun and South Node will be at the time of the Lunar North Node eclipse.) It is helpful to envision his as a type of suction created at the opposite pole – the Sun’s position! Energy comes in at the Moon’s end, and out at the Sun’s end. Sometimes the opposite pole’s effect is delayed a few weeks or months, but not always. The Full Moon brings fruition to the theme of the polarity, as governed by the Sun. “ (Eclipse Quoted information provided by Judith Hill, Astrologer.)

What this Full Harvest Moon in Pisces and Eclipse can bring:

  1. Intuition and Emotion: Pisces is known for its deep emotional and intuitive nature. During a Full Harvest Moon in Pisces, there’s a heightened sensitivity to your inner world. It’s an excellent time for introspection and understanding your emotional landscape. You might find yourself more in tune with your dreams and feelings, which can lead to personal revelations and healing.
  2. Creativity and Imagination: Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet associated with dreams, illusions, and creativity. This moon phase can amplify your creative impulses and inspire artistic endeavors. If you’re an artist, writer, or anyone engaged in creative pursuits, this period can be particularly fruitful for exploring new ideas and pushing boundaries.
  3. Spiritual Connection: Pisces is linked to spirituality and the mystical realms. A Full Harvest Moon in this sign can be a powerful time for spiritual practices, meditation, and connecting with higher aspects of yourself. It’s an ideal moment to explore or deepen your spiritual beliefs and practices.
  4. Letting Go and Release: The Pisces energy encourages releasing what no longer serves you. This Full Moon can be a good time for letting go of past emotional baggage or habits that are holding you back. It’s a time to clear the way for new growth and transformation.
  5. Compassion and Empathy: Pisces is often associated with compassion and empathy. During this Full Moon, you might feel a stronger urge to help others and offer support. It’s a good time for acts of kindness and for nurturing your relationships with understanding and compassion.
  6. Connection to the Natural World: The Harvest Moon itself is a symbol of abundance and the culmination of the harvest season. Under the influence of Pisces, you might feel a stronger connection to the natural world and the cycles of nature. It’s a good time to reflect on the abundance in your life and express gratitude.

In summary, the Full Harvest Moon in Pisces is a time of heightened intuition, creativity, and spiritual growth. It’s an opportunity to reflect, release, and connect deeply with your inner self and the world around you.

As previously noted, I, along with many practitioners throughout the centuries, do not recommend charging crystals or “Moon Water” during Eclipse Moons.  We also will have two more Eclipses following this, the first following in two weeks on October 2  on the New Moon in Libra 10° a Solar Eclipse, and an “almost” Lunar Eclipse in Aries at 24° on the Full Moon October 17, 2024.

Charging crystals or water during an eclipse is a practice that some people believe enhances the energy or properties of these items. However, there are a few reasons why some might advise against it:

  1. Astronomical Uncertainty: Eclipses, particularly solar eclipses, involve complex astronomical phenomena. Some believe that the energy changes during an eclipse might be unpredictable or unstable, which could affect the intended outcome of charging crystals or water.
  2. Energy Disturbance: Eclipses can bring about a sense of disruption or a shift in natural energies. Some people believe that this shift could disrupt the process of charging or cleansing, leading to unintended results.
  3. Cultural or Historical Beliefs: In some cultures, or belief systems, eclipses are seen as times of imbalance or transformation rather than periods for positive energy work. Charging crystals or water during these times might be seen as contrary to the intended spiritual practices associated with eclipses.
  4. Practical Concerns: There’s also the practical aspect of timing and the physical conditions during an eclipse. For example, the light conditions might not be ideal, and if you’re trying to use sunlight or moonlight to charge your items, an eclipse could interfere with this process.

Ultimately, whether or not to charge crystals or water during an eclipse comes down to personal belief and practice. If you feel drawn to this practice and it resonates with you, you might choose to proceed. However, it’s also perfectly fine to follow the advice of those who prefer to avoid it based on their understanding and beliefs.

Other ancient cultural beliefs surrounding Eclipses include:

Ancient cultures across the world had a variety of beliefs and taboos associated with eclipses, often viewing them as significant omens or times of upheaval. Here are some common “don’ts” from various traditions:

  1. Avoiding Work and Travel: Many ancient societies believed that during an eclipse, the natural order was disrupted, and it was advisable to avoid strenuous activities, including work and travel. For instance, in ancient China, it was thought that eclipses were a sign that the emperor was losing favor with the heavens, so people would cease their daily routines out of respect and to avoid bad luck.
  2. No Eating or Drinking: In some cultures, it was believed that consuming food or drink during an eclipse could be harmful. In India, for example, people might fast or avoid eating during an eclipse, as it was thought that the eclipse could affect the purity of food.
  3. Avoiding Physical Contact: There were beliefs that physical contact with others during an eclipse could bring misfortune or illness. In parts of Southeast Asia, people would often avoid touching one another and stay indoors.
  4. Refraining from Rituals or Important Activities: Ancient Greeks, for example, considered eclipses to be bad omens and avoided performing significant rituals or ceremonies during these times. This was based on the belief that eclipses were signs of divine displeasure.
  5. Avoiding Marriage and Birth Celebrations: Many cultures considered eclipses to be inauspicious times for celebrations or significant life events. For example, in some Indigenous cultures in the Americas, eclipses were seen as times when it was best to delay or avoid ceremonies like weddings or naming ceremonies for children.
  6. Protecting the Health of Children: In various traditions, there were specific rituals or precautions to protect children from the perceived negative effects of an eclipse. In some African cultures, for instance, it was believed that an eclipse could harm children, so special protective measures or rituals would be observed.
  7. Keeping Quiet and Silent: Some cultures believed that making noise during an eclipse could attract evil spirits or exacerbate the chaotic influence of the eclipse. In ancient India, people would often stay silent during an eclipse as a way of avoiding bad luck.

These beliefs often reflect a deep respect for the perceived power and significance of celestial events, as well as a desire to maintain harmony and balance during times of cosmic upheaval.

This is a time of heightened intuition and a wonderful time to tune into the stillness of something more powerful than the chaos that runs outside of us. The Veil is Thinning beginning this Full Moon/Eclipse increasing through Samhain and All Hallows Eve.

Tapping into one’s intuition involves connecting with the inner, often subconscious, part of oneself that provides insights, guidance, and understanding beyond rational or logical reasoning. Here’s a breakdown of what it typically involves:

  1. Quieting the Mind: To access intuition, it’s often necessary to create a space of stillness. This can be achieved through practices such as meditation, deep breathing, or simply taking a moment to pause and clear your mind of daily distractions.
  2. Listening to Inner Signals: Intuition often manifests as subtle signals or feelings—like a gut feeling, a hunch, or a sense of knowing without a logical explanation. Paying attention to these sensations and giving them space to emerge can help you connect with your intuitive self.
  3. Trusting Your Feelings: Intuition often comes with a sense of confidence or certainty that may not be backed by empirical evidence. Trusting these feelings, even if they don’t immediately make logical sense, is a key part of tapping into your intuition.
  4. Reflecting on Patterns: Intuitive insights might come more clearly when you reflect on past experiences and recognize patterns. Understanding how your intuition has guided you before can strengthen your ability to trust and follow it in the future.
  5. Practicing Mindfulness: Engaging in mindfulness practices helps you become more aware of your present moment experiences and inner thoughts. This awareness can enhance your ability to perceive intuitive insights.
  6. Journaling: Writing down your thoughts, feelings, and intuitive impressions can help clarify and validate your inner guidance. Journaling can also help track and understand patterns or recurring themes in your intuitive experiences.
  7. Engaging in Creative Activities: Activities like drawing, painting, or playing music can help bypass the analytical mind and tap into deeper, intuitive aspects of yourself. Creativity often opens channels to intuitive insights.
  8. Connecting with Nature: Spending time in natural settings can help you reconnect with your intuitive self. Nature’s tranquility and beauty often provide a backdrop for introspection and intuitive clarity.

Tapping into intuition is often a personal and ongoing process. It involves learning to differentiate between intuition and other internal voices, such as fear or wishful thinking, and developing a deeper trust in your own inner wisdom.

Enter the Wood Snake -Happy Lunar New Year

January 27, 2025 By Kimberly McGrath

Every year, on the New Moon in Aquarius, we welcome the Eastern Lunar New Year and a new animal energy and element. This year, on January 29, 2025 until February 16, 2026, we say so long to the Year of the Wood Dragon and hello to the Wood Snake. So, what does that even mean? Every year holds the energy and vibration of not only the planets and the numerology of that year, but an animal (totem) and its elemental energy.

Bear Animal Totem Spirit – A Shamans Journey

This is the story of a shamanic journey and the bear animal totem. A new spirit animal for me. I feel that this is a symbol for many of us right now to hold the energy and spirit of the bear within us as we will need it moving forward in this upside-down world.
