It is my favorite time of year, October’s autumn leaves, pumpkins and apples, Halloween, Samhain and Dia de los Muertos to usher in November which also is when it has been said that the Veil to the Other Side thins and allows Spirits and loved ones to enter our world and communicate more effortlessly with the living. We have the Full Hunters Moon in Taurus with a Lunar Eclipse on deck too!
Halloween, All Hallows Eve and Samhain have long been celebrated for centuries. We get to dress up in costumes and masks and be a different persona or live out a secret fantasy, but did you know that the reason behind the costumes and masks stems from people trying to “trick” the Spirits from the Other Side into thinking that they too were Spirits or Goblins? When the Veil is Thinning those in the living did not want to be haunted or have their children stolen and be swept away into the Underworld, therefore, they would dress as ghosts and ghouls to protect themselves and their children. The Jack-O-Lantern was placed on the porches of their homes to also ward off any unwanted Spirits from entering. However, in today’s traditions, many embrace the Thinning of the Veil and welcome Spirits and Ancestors to communicate with them. (Ouija Boards not recommended). This is followed by All Saints Day also known as Hallowmas, or All Souls Day where Christians celebrate those that are in Heaven and Saintly; their protectors. Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is another tradition to honor the Ancestors and loved ones on the Other Side. I have many of my own “ghost” stories, some that you can find here on this website under Thinning of the Veil, more than I have ever written about. However, I have noticed increased activity during this time of year and have captured orbs and EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) on my security cameras which I have shared on social media over the years, be sure to check them out.
This October should prove to be quite interesting with a Lunar Eclipse and Full Hunter’s Moon ending our month coming in just before Halloween on the 28th. The Sun will be in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus at 5 degrees. Look to see where 5 degrees of Scorpio or Taurus fall in your birth chart for the areas of your life that need attention. Full Moons are for releasing what no longer serves us. The Taurus/Scorpio axis speaks of Values; what do we value? Is the the material or the immaterial? It speaks to money, finances, our Self-Worth, other people’s money, bills and debts, inheritances, death and transformation, sex and intimacy… all leading right back to what is it that we value and how do we value ourselves! Eclipses are considered to be times of change and transformation, letting go of the past, embracing changes, receiving energy and messages from the Universe, cleansing our emotional bodies, setting intentions for renewal and rejuvenation. They usually mark major life events within 6 months time; Fixed Sign Eclipses when in Taurus, Scorpio or Leo, Aquarius are Fixed Signs and the changes are permanent. Eclipses in the Mutable Signs of Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo and Pisces can have a lesser effect or be short term and the Eclipses in the Cardinal Signs of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn typically mark the beginning of a new phase – a launching period.
Eclipses tend to trigger events including health issues. This will be the last of the Taurus/Scorpio Eclipses for 9 years. The health aspects indicated include:
•Sun and Mars in Scorpio – Reproductive organs, the nose and the colon. Acute Inflammation.
•Saturn in Pisces- the feet, the immune system and lymphatic system. Hardening, sluggish, fluid buildup.
•North Node in Aries – The head, the blood, the eyes.
•South Node in Libra- the kidneys and the adrenals.
•Moon & Jupiter in Taurus- Ears, Nose and Throat.
Always seek the advice of a doctor or medical professional if you are not feeling well.
The chart for the October 28th Eclipse: **It is NOT recommended to charge crystals or water during Eclipses**
November is appearing to be a resting period and the astrological aspects appear to be mild and less exhausting as the previous 10 months of 2023. Planetary Sign shifting are Mercury entering Scorpio indicating verbal aggression, indifference and spot on intuitive abilities; pay attention to your dreams. Venus entering her home Sign of Libra will smooth out disagreements and lend to pleasure and opulence! Speaking of opulence, there is a tendency to over spend during the upcoming holiday season. My advice is to check your finances, set a budget and stick to it. Overindulgence in delicious epicurean delights is also possible during this holiday season; I recommend planning ahead, getting extra exercise if you are going to indulge, drink plenty of water and stick to a sleep schedule so that you can allow your body to rest and recover from all the fabulous parties and events that await! Sticking to a sleep schedule will be especially important during this time of year as many of us will be changing our clocks in the coming weeks and that can throw us off our circadian rhythms. A minimum of 7-8 hours is recommended for adults… I personally prefer 8-10 for optimal performance of this body! As we inch towards Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, this time of year is for preparing, harvesting and cleansing so that we may enter the Winter months to rest and rejuvenate.
