Pumpkin spice and everything nice? The wheel of the year turns once more changing seasons for us and bringing us cooler weather here in the Northern Hemisphere and the hope of Spring for our friends down in the Southern Hemisphere.
Mabon 2018 will begin on Friday,September 21 and ends on Saturday,September 29
Mabon, (pronounced MAY-bun, MAY-bone, MAH-boon, or MAH-bawn) is the Autumn Equinox. The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest of this year’s crops. The Druids call this celebration, Mea’n Fo’mhair, and honor the The Green Man, the God of the Forest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizer are appropriate at this time. Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone, and her consort the God as he prepares for death and re-birth.
Various other names for this Lesser Wiccan Sabbat are The Second Harvest Festival, Wine Harvest, Feast of Avalon, Equinozio di Autunno (Strega), Alben Elfed (Caledonii), or Cornucopia. The Teutonic name, Winter Finding, spans a period of time from the Sabbat to Oct. 15th, Winter’s Night, which is the Norse New Year.
At this festival it is appropriate to wear all of your finery and dine and celebrate in a lavish setting. It is the drawing to and of family as we prepare for the winding down of the year at Samhain. It is a time to finish old business as we ready for a period of rest, relaxation, and reflection.

The Autumnal Equinox is upon us
On Saturday, September 22, both the Northern and Southern hemispheres will experience an equal amount of daylight. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it marks the beginning of fall, with daylight hours continuing to shorten until the winter solstice in December. For those south of the equator, it’s the beginning of spring.Technically speaking, the equinox occurs when the sun is directly in line with the equator. This will will occur at 9:54pm EST on Saturday.
Below is a short scientific guide to the most equal night of the season.
1) Why do we have equinoxes?
The fall and spring equinoxes, the seasons, and the changing length of daylight hours throughout the year are all due to one fact: Earth spins on a tilted axis.
The tilt — possibly caused by a massive object hitting Earth billions of years ago — means that for half the year, the North Pole is pointed toward the sun (as in the picture below). For the other half of the year, the South Pole gets more light. It’s why we have seasons. borrowed from the vox.com
Full Harvest Moon occurs on September 24th @ 10:52pm EST in Aries @2°00′ exact.
Aries puts us to work, puts us into action, yet, with that 2°aspect we could be quite emotional, sentimental possibly; the energy is also likely to bring out suppressed anger emotions, grief, regret and guilt for not fulfilling our dreams.
