Lucid Dreaming is the best, most refreshing dream that we can have. We wake feeling empowered, rested and informed. Often lucid dreaming brings through our dream walkers or our ancestors; they meet with us to provide important messages, celebrate an event or just to give us some love and support.
In an attempt to improve my lucid dreams and have them more often, I have been doing research that we can both do together and see if it really works. I have been lucid dream quite a bit since the Sun moved into Pisces back in February; more than I have in the last few years. For me, I know that if I take an afternoon nap on my living room sofa, I will have a lucid dream. Maybe it is the location, the energy of the room, the way the brilliant sunlight comes through the large windows and providing additional energy or that the width of the sofa is much smaller than my king size bed? I really do not know why it is, but it is. When I really need to connect with my family that has passed (my Mother, Grandmother, Grandfather or my Aunts and some friends) I will take a nap on the sofa. It is usually a 45 to 90 minute long nap that turns lucid about 15-20 minutes prior to waking. I usually wake with such a profound experience, I never forget the dream or the feeling. These lucid dreams stay with me forever.
My goal is to lucid dream as often as possible so that I can reprogram some bad habits, instill more love and compassion within myself, lose weight, gain better health, be a better healer and to be a better person. I know that I have been having so many lucid dreams lately, but I am not remembering them upon waking. However, I have a feeling with me all day of the dream, and glimpses and little blips of the people or the events and messages that occurred, without total recall. Many lucid dreamers are using this technique to correct dis-ease in the body, illness, obsessions and addictions. From correcting vision issues (the need to wear glasses), lose weight and eat healthier, forgiveness, improve relationships, find a better job or help with dilemmas. Anything that you may feel is a problem can be sorted out through lucid dreaming.
I have heard and read that we should keep a dream journal on the night stand and practice recalling a dream prior to jumping out of bed. I am horrible at this as I forget to do it every morning. Apparently, it has to be written down as that solidifies improving our recall. One other trick I have been able to do is, instead of jumping out of bed in the morning, when I start to wake up, I will just lay in bed and linger for a few minutes. I will try to stay in my dream a little longer and it often turns lucid because I am half awake and half asleep. This works as long as one of my dogs do not interrupt my slumber to go out. Another problem I am having is when I am lucid dreaming, I know that I am dreaming, I know what is going on, I can change things or consciously control my actions and I am even saying to myself “I am in a dream” and I am usually pretty happy. Then 5 minutes later I awake and poof, the dream is gone! If you are like me, let’s try to improve on this. If you do not think you have ever had a lucid dream, you are in for a big, wild, wonderful surprise!
Simple steps to Lucid Dreaming:
- Before bed, write down what or who you would like to dream about tonight. Whether it is connecting with a loved one or trying to overcome a bad habit or illness; ask for messages to help you. Keep the note pad by your bedside for the morning recall.
- Get all snug and comfortable
- Think of and savor at least one wonderful moment of your day
- Give thanks to the Angels for a wonderful day and for watching over & protecting you and your family while you sleep
- Set the intention- Tell yourself “I remember my dreams” “I have excellent dream recall”, repeat several times as you begin to quiet your mind
- Recall and silently speak your goal; you do not have to go through everything you wrote down, just a simple one or two word reminder, such as: Mom if you want to meet your Mom in your dreams, Lose Weight, Stop Drinking, Exercise, Forgiveness, Love, Partner, Money, Job, Happiness – you get the idea!
- Sink into sleep and dream away
- Upon waking, linger in your bed and on your pillow a while. Allow yourself to begin recalling what you were dreaming before waking. You can write it down or just lay there remembering as much as you possibly can. This will probably work best on the days that you wake on your own and without an alarm.
- Repeat this every evening. Each morning you will begin to recall more bits and pieces of dreams.
Practice each night to improve your dream state. This will train your mind to become more aware of your dreams and help you hash out issues in your waking state. You may receive visits from loved ones and friends that bring messages that will assist you to improve your daily life.
Many of us are looking for a connection with the Other Side and how to pierce a thinning veil; these techniques will hone your abilities to make contact as sleep is the thinnest the veil gets, every night, we do not have to wait for special times of the year or when the stars align just so, we can pierce that veil every night with a little practice!
I will post a link to Part 2 here once it becomes available. Come back and learn how to expand your lucid dreaming- I am going to work on these steps for a week or so and then we will move on to learning how to manipulate and control what happens during the dream state!
