February 16, 2018 – Gung Hay Fat Choy- Happy Chinese New Year of the Dog
Such wonderful energy is heading our way in the year of the Earth Dog; think of the traits, qualities and attributes of our furry, friendly canine companions- they are loyal, faithful and protective of the family that loves and cares for them. They alert us when danger, a predator or trespasser is nearby; or in my case when Spirit has entered my abode. The Earth Dog’s energy can be a bit high strung this year and deeply rooted in Earth based projects which includes business, money and creativity. Dog’s are also known for napping quite a bit once they have had their run around the yard; they love to eat and be pampered as well. With that, this year can be extremely exhausting and restful at the same time….click below to read more
Taking in the aspects of The Dog, and this being an 11 (2) numerological year, it is about partnerships, relationships, the coming together of the minds, co-creation, and integrity; our loyalty and faithfulness should reside in those who are most important and faithful to us. Those who have loyal and trustworthy (integrity) to us.
Although, dogs tend to be pleasers to those that abuse them; do not let that be us this year. Let this be a warning though that the abused Dog can also turn on his master and eat him when provoked for a prolong period. What is that adage? “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you?” Oh, but the Dog will if he is starved and beaten.
When I take this aspects into consideration 2018 can be playful, energetic, tranquil or vicious like a pack of wild dogs cornering their prey. I expect the first half of the year to be the former and the second half the latter; there is a resistance brewing in the world and everybody wants to be fed, loved and petted; they want to be able to lay their heads down at night confident knowing they will wake up and they will be cherished and cared for the way all sentient creatures deserve. Turn on The Dog and The Dog will turn on you. You choose, you decide; that will be your own fate for 2018.
On a lighter note, this is a Brown (Earth) Dog Year; so does that mean that Brown furred pups are the most lucky? Are they the ones eaten in celebration or are they spared during the Summer Solstice during the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China each year?
Chinese New Year is determined by the Lunar Cycles; falling somewhere between January 21 and February 20th. This year the January New Moon occurs on January 16th, therefore pushing the celebrations into February this year. There are 5 elements and 12 animal totem Signs that are honored; fairly like Western Astrology and just like my typical mode of Astrology, each one of us are born to an animal sign and element and each new year our signs are affected by the energy present of the main totem. I would like to share with you a wonderful website that will give you 2018’s predictions for love, money and harmony this coming year.
